Mrs. Sara Elizabeth "Lizzie" Gravley Cassell went home to be with Jesus, Sunday morning, September 16, 2012 shortly after midnight. There, she was welcomed by her husband Ernest Furman Cassell, an infant daughter and son, parents W. O. "Duke" and Mae Chappell Gravley, son-in-law Walter McNeely, 3 grandchildren, 4 brothers, 1 sister and countless relatives and friends.

Born June 6, 1918, she lived her life in the Pickens area, the majority of which was lived at Sunset where she resided at the time of her home going. She loved gardening and quilting, flowers, and arts and crafts. She was the oldest member of Holly Springs Baptist Church and the Baptist Women of Red Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Cassell was retired from Sir Shirtmakers and then retired again on her 80th birthday from the Pickens Sentinel Newspaper.

Survivors include her sons, Mitchell Cassell (Sue) of Sunset, Johnson Cassell (Patti) of Six Mile, and Milledge Cassell (Linda) of Pickens, daughters include Julia Mae McNeely of Greenville, Lillie Nell Hall (Rabon) of Taylors, Pearl Ellen Daves (Hiott) of Simpsonville, Jennie Sue Cassell and Darlene Cassell of Sunset, also 16 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. Surviving also are sisters Rosa Lee Stone and Sula Maddox both of Pickens.

Funeral services will be conducted 4 PM Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Reverend H. C. Couch and Reverend Gerald Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Reverend David Hardin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM Tuesday at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens.
