Maris Polash Steinberg died Friday, January 03, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Hyman and Sylvia Palin Polash. She retired as a school psychologist from Spartanburg School District 5. Along with her husband, Neil, she was extraordinarily active as a volunteer at the Temple of Israel. As a result, they became the namesake and initial recipients of the award for "Exceptional Volunteer Work."
Surviving are her husband, Neil I. Steinberg; her son, Howard Steinberg and son, David and his wife Lauren and two children, Sydney and Macy Steinberg; and a brother, Peter Polash.
Memorials may be made to the Temple of Israel, 400 Spring Forest Road, Greenville, SC 29615.
A memorial service will be held 3 pm Tuesday, January 7, at the Temple.
