Mildred Boone Wilson Obituary
Mildred Boone Wilson

Mildred Wilson, 87, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 after a brief illness. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

Born in City View, SC, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Helen McCrary Boone; and she graduated from Parker High School in 1942. She retired from Meyers Arnold department store after 32 years; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by a brother, T.J. Boone; two sisters, Pauline Boone Belcher and Maxine Gossett Byers; and a grandson, Adam Edward Wilson.

Her kind heart, out-going personality and fun-loving spirit touched all those who knew her. She never let herself get old. She is remembered for bringing joy and laughter into the lives of family and friends. An avid reader, she also loved to cook and she cherished her pet dogs and cats.

Her children will always remember that she gave them "a lifetime of love" and was the "glue that held the family together."

She is survived by four children and their spouses, Eddie and Norma Lynn Wilson of Greenville; Vicki and Dennis Belk of Myrtle Beach; Ava and Ron Chitty of Greenville; and Renee & Randy White of Greenville; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Traci, Cheri, David, Layla, Robin, and Daniel; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Alison, Sarah, T.J., Emily, and Josey; and three great-great-grandchildren, Marlee, Kai, and Grace.

While the family is saddened by the loss, they look back on the good times shared such as holidays at her home and vacations together at the beach and their Mountain Cabin

Daughter Ava Chitty of Greenville, recalls that her mother's Sunday pot roast was "the best in the world" and how she was "the Queen of Pound Cakes," having made five of them one morning just to reach the perfect color.

Grandchildren recall how their lives were "forever changed by the love they received" from their grandmother. They will remember her smile, her 'perfect advice," and holidays spent at her home. They will remember a beautiful, feisty, strong woman with an open heart who showed them that they can accomplish anything if they apply themselves.

Our family has peace knowing that mom was looking forward to eternity with her Lord and Savior. Our family wishes to thank the Cancer Centers of the Carolina's, Cross Creek Internal Medicine of GHS, and Amedisys Hospice for the love and kindness shown to our mother.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, September 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Harper Chapel, Greenville.

In lieu of flowers make memorials in her memory to Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Road Greenville, SC 29607.
