Roy Moore Obituary

Roy David Moore, 95, of 215 Viewmont Drive, husband of the late Selina George Moore, ever strong in his faith and humble in his obedience, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday morning, March 23, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Shelby, NC, he was the son of the late William and Margaret Justice Moore. His life was one marked by service to his Lord, family, country, and his friends. Mr. Moore was a veteran of WWII, Pacific campaign with the US Navy 3rd fleet, retired in 1980 from Contract Incorporated, and was a member of Reedy River Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and leader of the Royal Ambassador's young men's group.
Surviving are his daughter: Kay Mills and her husband Marvin of Greenville; son: Jim Alford of Taylors; sister: Margaret Lollis of Columbia; brother: William Moore of Arizona; grandchildren: Chip Mills and fiancée Jennifer, Josh Mills and wife Lynn, Isaac Mills and wife Karey, Seth Mills and wife Summer, Selina Mills, Anna Mills, Kristina Alford Walker, Kirby Alford and wife Heather and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by 5 brothers and 6 sisters.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 2 until 3 p.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Reedy River Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the home.
Memorials may be made to Gideon's International, Travelers Rest Camp, P.O. Box 69, Travelers Rest, SC 29690.
