Theodore Forest Essick

Greer, SC

Theodore Forest Essick, of Greer, SC, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014.

Born in Johnson City, TN, March 4, 1958, he was a son of Dorothy Essick and the late Edward Essick.

Mr. Essick graduated from Science Hill High School in 1976. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from East Tennessee State University in 1980, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee in 1983.

He was married to Vicki on December 31, 2004. They moved to Greer, SC, in July 2008 and attended Fellowship Greenville Church.

Mr. Essick served as an elder and deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City, TN. He was a choir member and soloist for various churches. He served as Sunday school superintendent, and Sunday school teacher, along with chairing various committees.

Mr. Essick served on a variety of community boards including United Way, Arts Council, and District Girl Scouts.

After holding various positions in the banking and chemical industries, he founded Envirotek Management Services in 2003, headquartered in Greenville, SC.

His passion was for God and family. He had great compassion for people and was a loving and devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, and six children, Christopher Hill, Anderson, SC; Lauren Hathaway and husband Jake, Knoxville, TN; Lauren Mastin and husband Chris, Charlotte, NC; Parker Essick, Johnson City, TN; David Hill, and Jennifer Hill, Greer, SC.

Other family members include mother Dorothy Essick, Johnson City, TN; brother Chuck Essick and wife Susan; nephews Chad Essick and Tommy Essick, Houston, TX, and niece Shannon Essick, Johnson City, TN.

He was preceded in death by his father Ed Essick and sister Susan McCollum.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Fellowship Greenville, 3161 S. Highway 14, Greenville, with a celebration service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
