Harriet Green Brenner of Greenville, SC passed away peacefully on Sept. 30, 2012 at McCall Hospice Home of Greenville.
She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Jessie Green of Brooklyn, NY, Fall River, MA and NYC, NY. Born in Fall River, MA, she graduated from Northhampton School For Girls and attended Sarah Lawrence College before marrying the late Robert Stanley Brenner of NYC, NY. They raised their 3 children in Florence, SC. During those years she worked as a high school English teacher after obtaining her degree from Coker College. A Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of SC followed. She worked in the Governor's Office of Child Advocacy and then became Nursing Home Ombudsman for the state of SC. She was a member of Temple Israel in Greenville, SC. She spent the latter part of her life working as a creative travel agent. She was a volunteer for Open Arms Hospice and passionate about gardening, reading, cooking and traveling. She is survived by her children Andrea Williams (and Ken Warden) of Greenville, SC, Deborah (and Jeff) Dorman of Princeton, NJ and Steven Brenner of Charleston, SC, her beloved sister, Patricia Lovit of Columbia, SC and her ten grandchildren - Zach, Jackie, Liana, Jelli, Jessie, Alex, Andrew, Ian, Hannah and Andrew and was the loving grandmother of the late Leah Williams.
Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at their home for family and close friends only. Memorials may be made to the MDS Foundation, Inc., 4573 South Broad St. Suite 150, Yardville, NJ 08620.
