Joseph Edward Moxie


Joseph "Joe" Edward Moxie, 89, of Simpsonville, husband of Dolores Quinn Moxie for 66 years, died January 27, 2014.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph G. and Evelyn Morgan Moxie.

Joe served in the United States Navy and received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Brown University. He was a retired electrical design engineer from Westinghouse Electric, and a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Tom Moxie and wife, Karen of Greenville, Jeff Moxie of Simi Valley, CA; a daughter-in-law, Ann Moxie of Mauldin; six grandchildren, Lindsay Moxie, Matthew Smiechowski, Michael Smiechowski, Christina Smiechowski, Laura Moxie and Tim Moxie; seven great grandchildren; a niece, Beverly Huston and nephew, Richard Quinn, who both grew up in Joe and Dolores' home.

He was predeceased by a son, Jim Moxie; a daughter, Barbara Smiechowski; two granddaughters, Megan and Amy Moxie; and a daughter-in-law, Paula Smart.

Visitation will be 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, 1604 NE Main Street, Simpsonville, SC.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, with entombment following at Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum.
