Joel E. Allgood

Joel Edward Allgood, Sr., 83, husband of Evelyn Heath Allgood, went home to be with The Lord Sunday, February 9, 2014.

Mr. Allgood was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Joel Irvin and Kate Holder Allgood. He was retired from The City of Pickens as water superintendant after 18 years service. He also served on the Pickens City Council for 6 years. Mr. Allgood was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir, former deacon, and a member of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class.

Mr. Allgood was very active in the Senior Olympics where he won many medals.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Evelyn H. Allgood of the home, his daughter, Elaine A. Cauthen (Rex) of Easley, and his son, Joel E. "Eddie" Allgood, Jr. (Debbie) of Pickens. Grandchildren include Mandy Roberts (Scott), Jennifer Crain (Phillip) and Katie Boiter (Travis) and great grandchildren, Brandon Roberts, Lexie Roberts, Will Crain, and Kaylin Crain. Also surviving is a sister, Ida Katherine Westbrook of Pickens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:30 to 1 PM at Dillard Funeral Home with funeral services following at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
