1922 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Allen McKittrick Knight, Sr.

Allen McKittrick Knight, 92, went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2014.

Born January 26, 1922, he was the son of Robert Arnold and Mary McKittrick Knight.

He was a farmer and lifelong resident of Dunklin Township in Greenville County.

He was a graduate of Honea Path High School, class of 1941, and attended Clemson University before joining the U.S. Army and serving his country during World War II in the European theater. He was a member of Lickville Presbyterian Church having served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a past president of the Greenville County Farm Bureau, a board member for the Agriculture and Conservation Service, a past commissioner of the Dunklin Fire Department, a member of the Lion's Club and a Mason, Fork Shoals lodge. If ever there was a man who embodied the quiet strength of a farmer, it was Allen Knight. He spent his life planting seeds, and the people he loved will never stop reaping the harvest he left for them.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancee Moore Cheatham Knight and sister, Betty Sue Baldwin.

He is survived by his children, Allen "Mac" Knight, Jr. (Cynthia), Benjamin "Ben" Knight and fiancée, Karen, and Nancee Lee Yearick (Bob); four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Dr. Roland M. Knight (Katherine); and sister, Mary Jean Timmerman.

A memorial service will be held at Lickville Presbyterian Church on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.

The family asks that memorials be made to Lickville Presbyterian Church or the Lickville Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 10020 Augusta Rd., Pelzer, SC 29669-9217.

Condolences may be sent to the family at

Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
