Louise "Weezie" Jeffress Shaw, 64, formerly of Beaufort, SC, died February 21 from complications of frontotemporal dementia.
Louise was born January 10, 1950, in Oxford, NC, to the late Reverend E.B. Jeffress, Jr. and Harriet O. Jeffress. She attended Kinston High School and received a bachelor's degree in Geology from the University of Delaware. She married Richard N. Shaw in August, 1969.
Louise was a gentle and loving soul whose smile enriched everyone she met. She loved any and all arts and was a skilled craftsperson herself, doing everything from knitting to painting to jewelry making. She was very active in Beaufort Little Theater and the Beaufort Repertory Company, and served as stage manager for many productions. She also ran a paperback exchange business on St. Helens Island for many years.
She is survived by her husband Richard; her daughters, Sarah Shaw Koti of Denver, CO, and Katherine Hatzigiannakis of Christiansburg, VA; and by her sisters, Rebecca Harris of Roanoke, VA, and Harriet Moulton of Jacksonville Beach, FL.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church with the Reverend's Stephen J. Rhoades and Roxanne Ruggles officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception at a private residence to be announced. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, February 23, from 3 to 5 pm at The Mackey Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD), Radnor Station, Building 2, Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087.
