Mr. Richard Day Powers, 56, of Pickens, SC, husband of Laura L. Burge Marshall-Powers, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House.
Mr. Powers was born in Baton Rouge, LA. He was the son of Marguerite Powers Fowler and the late Evans B. Powers. He was a registered landscape architect, LEED certified, with a degree from LSU and was employed with S&ME Inc. Richard enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, photography, hiking, scuba diving, metal detecting, hunting, cooking, rock collecting and, most of all, playing his fiddle.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son William Dickinson Powers, daughter Alexandra Marguerite Powers, and a step-daughter Ashley Michele Marshall of Pickens, SC, three brothers, John Connor Powers, Thomas Butler "Tim" Powers, and Michael Evans Powers of Baton Rouge, LA. Also an aunt, Mary Murrell Ball of Atlanta, GA, nieces and nephews, Pierce, Drue, Ross, Taylor, and Hannah Powers of Baton Rouge and countless cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be 4:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2014 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown in Easley, SC.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
