On February 26, 2014, Morris Dorrah Cunningham, 87, passed from life into life everlasting at Greer Memorial Hospital. He was the last surviving member of his brothers and sisters. He was the son of the late Pinkney Cunningham and Lucy Mitchell Cunningham, and the widower of Mary Henson Cunningham, who died in June 2012. They had been married for 61 years. Morris was born on January 4, 1927 in Greenville County, South Carolina. He was a twin to his sister Doris. Morris joined the United States Army Air Corps in 1945 and served as an airplane mechanic during WWII. After marrying in 1951, he moved to the Blue Ridge area of Greenville County in the Jordan Community with his bride, Mary. He was a retired employee of Homelite and a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Greer, for many years.
He was a private pilot and an enthusiastic fan of airplanes and model airplanes during his life. He worked diligently on building many model airplanes and shared his skills with his sons and others. He attended many airplane shows around the country.
Surviving are three sons, Marion (Denise) Cunningham, Mitchell (Renee) Cunningham, and Michael (Lisa) Cunningham all of Greer; four grandchildren, Brian (Elizabeth) Cunningham, Leigh Anne (Daniel) McGill, Bronwyn Cunningham, and Davion Cunningham; and many nieces and nephews.
The family expresses grateful thanks to Mrs. Eunice Evans who was his caregiver during the last year of his life, for her tireless help and devoted support.
The family will receive friends at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Greer, on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 12:45p.m. until 1:45p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
