Muriel P. Walkiewicz, 75, of Greer, died after a short illness. She had lived in Greer since 2006. She had lived previously in New Orleans, Phoenix, Orlando, the Hudson Valley of upstate New York and in central New Jersey.
She is survived by a son, Roy (Marylou) Kostrikin, of Arizona, two daughters, Joan (Paul) Willet, of West Virginia, and Donna (Mohsen) Khalil, of Arizona, a brother, Robert Service of New Jersey, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, as well as 11 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Joseph Walkiewicz, a daughter, Diane McGrath, and her brother John Service who died in the Vietnam War.
She also leaves behind close friends Doug, Leslie, and Jennifer of Greer, as well as two beloved and thoroughly spoiled pet dogs, Daisy and Missy.
Besides raising her family, she had a varied work career encompassing some 35 years, including two supervisory manufacturing jobs with Brown Electronics and Mastercraft Industries and two supervisory jobs in retail at both Walmart and K-Mart.
Her favorite hobbies included visiting the Boardwalk and sea shore of New Jersey, gardening, gourmet cooking, puzzles of all kinds, crocheting, as well as being a fan of baseball and football.
In accordance with her wishes cremation rites have been accorded, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
