Greyson Earle Brown, 93, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson.
Born in Pickens, he was the son of the late Earle and Minnie Morgan Brown.
Mr. Brown proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy in WWII. He was a retired supervisor from Mayfair Mills in Pickens after 43 years of service. He loved being active, particularly enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was known for his love of roses and at one time had 75 rose bushes, which he shared with friends. He also was a longtime and active member of East Pickens Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent and was an Associational ASSIST team member.
Surviving is his devoted wife of 72 years, Virginia Brown of the home; a daughter, Juda Addis of Anderson; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Betty Brown of Lowell, NC; and a granddaughter, Leslie Brown of Gastonia, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son-in-law, Amos Addis; and three sisters, Inola Rogers, Bernice Reeves and Imogene Sentell.
A service to celebrate Mr. Brown's life will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at the funeral home.
