Roy "Doc" Phillips, Sr.


Roy "Doc" Phillips, Sr., 82, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 24, 2014.

He was married to Mary Sanders Phillips for 44 years before she passed away September 20, 2013.

He was the owner of Phillips Heating and Air Conditioning Company.

He was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict, where he received numerous citations and medals, including The Purple Heart.

He is survived by his children, Mary Lynn (Barney) Best, Michael (Dodie) Phillips, Mark (Roxanne) Phillips, Roylyn (Lynn) Johnson; three brothers, Archie, Frank, and Tom Phillips; sister, Ruth McCauley; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his wife and parents, William and Annie Mae Phillips; son, Roy Leon Phillips, Jr.; and three brothers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at The Palmetto Mortuary, with the funeral service following at 2:00 pm. Interment with Military Honors will be at Graceland East Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers at Open Arms Hospice - Nurse's Aide, Gloria, and Nurses Brandy and Lisa.
