Furman Dalton Chapman


Furman Dalton Chapman, 92, widower of Hettie Ligon Brown Chapman, his loving wife of 67 years, died March 26, 2014.

Born in Greenville County, he was adopted by the late Robert and Millie Tripp Chapman when he was 18 months old. They provided him a very loving, stable environment.

Mr. Chapman retired from the United States Air Force in 1963 after 23 years of service. Later, he was a Regional Sales Manager for Orkin and a salesman for Fairway Ford. He was an active member of Lickville Presbyterian Church, Augusta Road Ruritan Club, and he was a Mason. He loved playing golf and spent many happy and frustrating days pursuing this sport.

Survivors include daughter, Betty C. Bennett (William); son, Dennis L. Chapman (Susan); 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by daughter, Jean C. Barnes.

Visitation will be from 10:30 until noon Friday, March 28, with the funeral following at noon, both at Lickville Presbyterian Church, Pelzer. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lickville Presbyterian Church, 10020 Augusta Rd., Pelzer, SC 29669.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rolling Green Village and Interim Hospice for taking care of Mr. Chapman the last few years of his life.
