Evelyn Burton


Evelyn Turner Burton, 73, widow of Bobby Joe Burton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2014.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Prince Albert and Mary Louree Elrod Turner. She was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens Estes Plant and a member of Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle where she belonged to The Women of the Vine.

Surviving are sons, Teddy Albert Burton of West Pelzer, Bobby Joe Burton, Jr. of Greenville; daughters, Annette Burton Dyer of Williamston, Rosa Rene Smith of Honea Path; sister, Edith McClain of Piedmont; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, James Rufus Burton; sister, Toni McClain; brothers, Hank Turner, Johnny Hendricks, Bill Hendricks, Noah Hendricks.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle. Burial will be at Grove Station Baptist Church Cemetery in Piedmont.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Annette Dyer, 6622 Midway Road, Williamston, SC 29697.
