Dr. Harry Davis Pratt, Sr.
Dr. Harry Davis Pratt, Sr., age 98, of Atlanta, Georgia, died on Monday, March 31, 2014.
Dr. Pratt was born in North Adams, Massachusetts on April 13, 1915 and earned his BS and MS degrees at Massachusetts State College and Ph. D. from the University of Minnesota. He worked on malaria control in Puerto Rico from 1942-1946, and in or out of Atlanta as a member of the Communicable Disease Center (CDC) from 1946-1972, teaching various forms of insect and rodent control in the states or overseas.
He married Caroline G. Kreiss in 1944 with whom he had three children before she drowned in 1951. He married Dora Ford in 1952 who died in 1998. All the family members were members of Peachtree Christian Church beginning in 1953.
Dr. Pratt is survived by two sons, Harry Davis Pratt, Jr. and George Kreiss Pratt; six grandchildren, Harry D. Pratt, III, William Robert Pratt, Gail Caroline Leonard, Dora Elizabeth Cook, Richard Carter Garrison, and Peter Benjamin Garrison; and three great grandchildren, Alex F. Leonard, Madeline Garrison, and Jack Garrison. He was predeceased by a daughter, Katherine Pratt Garrison and a brother, Samuel Maxon Pratt.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 12:00 PM at Simpsonville United Methodist Church.
