Helen Gertrude Sears Martin Bennefield

Greenville

Helen Gertrude Sears Martin Bennefield, of Greenville, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

Born in Jackson County, GA, she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Cora Lee Hill Sears.

Helen was formerly employed at Woodside Mill and was a member of Cherrydale Baptist Church.

She is survived by children, Thomas Allen Martin, Sylvia Martin DeOliveira (Geriel), Wanda Martin DeMattos, and Barbara Martin Taulbee (Jack); twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; sixteen great-great grandchildren; brother, James Sears; and sister, Nell Sears.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Thomas Martin and nine brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to , PO Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.

The family will be at the residence of Jack and Barbara Taulbee.
