Edna Louise Hooper Thacker, 94, of 108 Bowen Drive, widow of Vester Imanuel Thacker, Sr., died Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home.
Born in Candler, NC, she was a daughter of the late D. W. "Web" and Minnie Wilson Hooper. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Nequassa Chapter #43 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Franklin, NC, and was an associate member of the Lattie Tipton Outpost 3 Society of the 3rd Infantry Division. She was a homemaker and a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are sons, Vester I. Thacker, Jr. (Pam), of Fair Play, and James C. Thacker (Jan) of Central; daughter, Audrey T. Fowler (Sam), of Pelzer; grandchildren, Vester I. Thacker, III (Yumi), of Atsugi, Japan, Steven C. Thacker, of Central, Michael D. Wheeler (Amy), of Mauldin, and Kathryn Marie Thacker, of Plymouth, England; step-grandchildren, Joy Fowler Krimm, Joey Fowler, Eric King, Reece Ingold and Jan Speaks; eight great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and special family, Barbara and Greg Brockell.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her angelic great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Thacker Newman, of Plymouth, England; three brothers; and six sisters.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until noon Monday, May 5, 2014 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home chapel at noon with the Rev. Ronald Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home.
