Ellis Burgess

Pelzer

Ellis Burgess, 85, husband of Ann Bradshaw Burgess, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at his home. He was a devoted husband and loving brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late James Allen Burgess and Georgia Ann Burgess Rose. He was retired from Gerber Childrenswear and a member of Dry Oak Assembly of God. Mr. Burgess was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Diane Etters of Pelzer, Vickie Sims (Tony) of Fountain Inn; sons, James Ellis Burgess (Joy) of Greenville, Robert Franklin Burgess (Sandy Chamblee) of Starr, Allen Clark (Kelsey) of Belton; grandchildren, Deanna Cooper (Kenneth), Terry Hughes, Shannon Sizemore (Daniel), Christina Hughes, Austin Burgess, Tony Sims, Jr., Ethan Chamblee Burgess, Terry Sims; three great-grandchildren; brother, Calvin Burgess (Sara) of Belton; sisters, Minnie Duncan of Travelers Rest, Beulah Chapman (James) of Honea Path.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Burgess; brothers, Lewis and Warren Burgess; sister, Ruby Cox.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Dry Oak Assembly of God. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home.
