George K. Clardy


George Kendrick Clardy, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, June 11, 2014 after a period of declining health.

Born in Piedmont, SC, he was a son of the late Horton Kendrick and Hazel Fleming Clardy.

Mr. Clardy was retired from the U.S. Army with 28 year's service. Following his retirement he worked in civil service with the FAA at the Greenville-Spartanburg airport. He was a member of Piedmont First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Fletcher Clardy. He is survived by his loving family, sons, Ken Clardy, Jr. (Sylvia), of Fountain Inn, Wayne Clardy of Simpsonville, and Larry Clardy (Jeanette) of Madison, AL ; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren.

Mr. Clardy is at The Mackey Mortuary where the family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00pm until 2:15pm leaving in procession for a graveside service with full military honors at 3:00pm at Greenville Memorial Garden.

The family would like to thank the staff at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home for the kind and loving care given to him for the past five years.
