Christopher Blane Capps, 92, of Marietta, husband of the late Alma Winfred Jones Capps, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Mountain Home Health & Rehab.
Born in Greenville County, SC, he was a son of the late William Hosea and Lucy Jane Bane Capps. Mr. Capps served in the South Pacific as a Seabee in the US Navy during WWII; he was a member of the Ebenezer Masonic Lodge #101; he retired after 44 years from the J.P. Stevens Slater Plant and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Surviving are 4 children, Sharon Capps, Shirley Wilmot and husband Richard, William B. Capps and Gary L. Capps and wife Dale; 5 grandchildren, Lee Addington, Scott Addington, Gary Capps, Jr., Christopher Capps and Stephanie Riggins; 5 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren and a special friend Keith Crane.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a daughter, Lois Capps and 2 brothers, Harold & Joseph B. Capps.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday morning at The Howze Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11:30 Saturday at the mortuary prior to the service.
His daughter would like to thank the staff at Mountain Home Health & Rehab in Hendersonville, NC for the loving care and compassion shown Mr. Capps while he was in their care.
