Milton Taylor Richards
The streets of heaven will never be the same because on June 20, 2014, Milton Taylor Richards arrived at his heavenly home driving a Corvette with a Gold Wing Motorcycle in tow. God promised to prepare a place for this faithful servant who fought a valiant eleven year battle against cancer.
Milton was married to Marsha Ghent Richards for thirty-four years. He and Marsha were both diagnosed with cancer weeks apart; Marsha with Bronchoalveolar Carcinoma and Milton with Renal Cell Carcinoma. They fought cancer together for four years until Marsha passed away in 2007. Milton would live eleven years and be called a "walking miracle" by his doctors. God gave Milt the strength to fight the disease as if it was a war; a war Milt fought bravely.
Milt's life on earth was filled with many successful years at various jobs, but his passion was music. Milt will be remembered most for his voice and for his work with many local church choirs. Milt served as Choir Director at Laurel Baptist Church and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He also enjoyed singing in choirs at Edwards Road Baptist Church, Taylors First Baptist Church, and Mountain Creek Baptist Church.
Milton is survived by his wife, Saundra Richards, his daughter and son-in-law, Dora and David Impson; his grandchildren, Isaiah, Selah, Joshua, and Shylah Impson; his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Susan Richards; and his beloved pets, Cici and Precious. He is also survived by a wonderful group of friends from the Chapter E Gold Wings. He was loved well and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A memorial service will be at Mountain Creek Baptist Church on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Mountain Creek Baptist Church, 255 W. Mountain Creek Church Road, Greenville, SC 29609 or St. Francis Foundation Cancer Center, 1 St. Francis Drive, Greenville, SC 29601.
