Upon graduating from JL Mann High School, Hank earned a full swimming scholarship to Clemson University, where he was three times named All-ACC and set several school records. He served as captain of the Clemson swim team two consecutive years and received the McCollum Most Valuable Award. After completion of his degree, he entered the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine and graduated in 1998. While in dental school he met the love of his life, Lisa Manning, and they married in 1998. They practiced dentistry together at Faris Dental, he as a general dentist and she as an orthodontist.

Dr. Faris was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he volunteered in many capacities. He also gave freely of his time to the Caine Halter YMCA, Kroc Center, Meals on Wheels, SAIL swimming, Greenville Free Medical Clinic and others. His talents will be missed.
