Rev. Thomas "Tom" Walker


Rev. Thomas "Tom" Browning Walker, 95, widower of Julia Odenheimer Walker, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2014.

Rev. Walker was born in Springfield, KY, to the late Mitchell and Frances McElroy Walker. He retired as the pastor of Essington Baptist Church, PA. He was a proof reader for Scripture Union until the age of 94. He was an alumni of Moody Bible Institute and Columbia Bible College. Tom was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was formerly a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he taught the Tom and Julia Walker Senior Couples Sunday School Class for 13 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Judith Walker and Carol Sickman and husband Bill; a brother, Bob Walker; a sister, Ellen Pile; three grandchildren, Stacey Desrosiers and husband David "D.J." III, Jamie Niespodziani and husband Adam, and Lottie Walker; and two great-grandchildren, David Desrosiers IV and Madalyn Desrosiers. He was predeceased by a sister, Martha Hale.

Visitation 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Dr. Bob Evans and Pastor Jamey Collins. Entombment, with military honors, will be in the mausoleum at Cannon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Scripture Union, P.O. Box 215, Valley Forge, PA 19481-0215.
