Harry Edward Fay, Sr.
Harry Edward Fay, Sr., 84, of Greenville, husband of Iris Lillian Waldrop Fay, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014.
Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Harry Edward Fay and Catherine Amelia Conroy Fay Dugan.
Mr. Fay served in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam in the US Army with the 101 Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell as a Paratrooper, receiving two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He later worked for Amoco and retired as a process operator.
In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, he is survived by daughter Karen Fay Shumate of Greenville; sons, Harry E. Fay, Jr. (Marquetta) and Michael Fay both of Greenville; grandchildren, Christopher Shumate of Greenville, Cory Fay of Clinton, Lara Shumate Poole (Elliott) of Greenville and Kandis Powers (Jason) of Jacksonville, FL; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Cathy Fay and brother, Leroy Diffenbaugh.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with the funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will be at 1004 Edgemont Avenue, Greenville.
