Madge Sandy Capps

Madge Sandy Capps, 88, of Marietta, widow of Mays Capps, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014.

Born in Bolair, WV, she was a daughter of the late U.G. and Nellie Mustoe Sandy.

Mrs. Capps retired from the US Postal Service after 17 years of service. She was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church for over 72 years, where she was a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class and assisted with Bible School.

Surviving are a daughter, Vivian C. Madden of Marietta; a son, Richard Capps (Kay) of Slater; five grandchildren, Lynn Odom, Jason Dockery, Stephen Dockery, Charles Myers, and Kay Myers; six great grandchildren, Cayce Capps, Madisyn and Ashton Odom, Hailey Dockery, Nigel Williams, and Nikolas Fletcher; three sisters, Shirley Tyree of Mossy, WV, Patricia Rice of Bolair, WV, and Barbara Strickland of Hampton, VA; and two brothers, Larry Sandy of Bolair, WV and Robert Sandy, Richmond, VA.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rita Capps; and a brother, Bud Sandy.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Cleveland First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
