Ruby Bellamy Obituary

Ruby Cannon Bellamy, age 98, died June 17, 2008 at the Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee in Florence, S.C.

Mrs. Bellamy was born January 13, 1910 in Conway, S.C.; the daughter of the late Henry Cephus Cannon and Cora Martin Cannon. She graduated from Conway High School. Mrs. Bellamy was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Leon Shafter Bellamy; and also two brothers, Hallie Cannon and Quincy Cannon; and five sisters, Nina Cannon, Ethel Hucks, Evelyn Cannon, Alma Waddell, and Patricia Moorman.

Survivors include her children, Raymond W. Bellamy (Barbara) of Pawley Island, S.C., Margie B. Wylie (Jim) of Charlotte, N.C., Kenneth L. Bellamy (Fran) of Surfside Beach, S.C., Kay B. Westbury of Greenville, S.C. and Pawleys Island, S.C., and Judith B. Holland of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Amy Fore of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Wilma Carmichael (Ray) of Walterboro, S.C.; one brother, Henry C. Cannon (Jackie) of Conway, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bellamy, along with her family, moved to Murrells Inlet in 1940 and resided there until she retired from Brookgreen Gardens at age 76, and moved to the Methodist Manor at age 86. She was a member of Belin United Methodist Church.

The family extends its gratitude to the staff of the Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee, and to Ascension Hospice for their loving care to Mrs. Bellamy.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Belin United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Alexander officiating. Burial will follow at Belin Cemetery. There will be a reception in the Family Life Center following the burial committal.
