Lydia Leitner Rose, 89, of Greenville, widow of the late Harvey McKoy Rose, died Saturday, July 23, 2011.
Born in Augusta, GA, Mrs. Rose grew up in Aiken and was the daughter of the late George Herbert and Lydia Wilhite Leitner.
Mrs. Rose earned a Bachelors Degree from Winthrop University and Masters Degree in Library Science from Emory University. She retired from J.L. Mann High School after serving as a librarian for many years.
Mrs. Rose was a member of the Greenville Junior League and The Debutante Club of Greenville and was a member of Christ Church Episcopal.
She is survived by three daughters, Lydia Leitner Rose of Aiken, Margaret Smedes Rose of Aiken, and Susan Rose Scovil and husband, John, of Greenville; and four grandchildren, Sloan Rose Herrick and Charles Alexandre Herrick and Smedes Rose Scovil and Elizabeth Sloan Scovil.
The family would like to thank Lydia's devoted caregivers, Tammy Smith, Maria Rueda, Selean Pepper, Kathy Mull and Alcira Vasquez for all the love and care they gave to her.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Christ Church Episcopal Cemetery.
