Sammie Rosevelt (Sam) Hyder, 72, of 234 Hagood Road, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at his home.
Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late James King Hyder and Lonie Mae Clark Hyder.
Sam was a self employed builder who loved to sing and play bluegrass music.
Surviving are his children, Joe Hyder (Angie), Wanda Nalley (Gerald), Scott Hyder, Glenn Hyder, and Phil Hyder all of Pickens; twelve grandchildren, Ben Hyder, John Hyder, Kayla Hyder, Zachary Hyder, Savannah Hyder, Kelsey Hyder, Jarrett Hyder, Jennifer Nalley, Julie Nalley, Lydia Nalley, Aryn Nalley and Ryan Nalley; one great grandchild, Kasem Sams; a sister, Thelma Helton of Greenville; and three brothers, George Hyder of Cleveland, Wade Hyder of Marietta, and Boyce Hyder of Greenville.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Paul Hyder.
A service to celebrate Sam's life will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at the funeral home.
