A. Gerald Stroud, 74, beloved husband of Lois Clifford Stroud, passed away on August 3, 2012. He will be remembered for his character, courage & faith; and as a devoted husband, father & grandfather.

Gerald Stroud was born on October 26 1937, in Clanton, AL to Archie Lee & Sarah Boyd Stroud. He was raised in Birmingham, AL and was a graduate of Ramsey High School. Gerald graduated from Auburn University in 1959 and went on to receive a Master's Degree from Florida State University in 1965. Gerald and his family settled in Greenville, SC where he served as Director of Human Resources for several of the region's leading textile firms including Milliken, National Spinning Company, Mount Vernon Mills and United Merchants. Following retirement, Gerald focused his boundless energy on health, family & and a second career in home renovation.

He is preceded in death his parents, Archie Lee & Sarah Boyd Stroud. Gerald is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lois; their daughter, Virginia Boyd Stroud & her husband John Edwards, of Greenville, SC; and two sons, Stephen Clifford Stroud & his wife Belinda, of Birmingham, AL; and David Lee Stroud & his wife Becky, of Birmingham, AL; and four grandsons: Andrew Edwards, Barkley & Bentley Stroud and Leo Stroud. Also surviving are two brothers Dr. Roger Lee Stroud (Joanna) of Atlanta, GA and the Rev. Charles Boyd Stroud (Mildred) of Birmingham, AL.

Gerald was a devoted member of Greenville First Baptist Church serving as Senior Deacon, Choir Member, Committee Chair and Covenant Sunday School Class Leader.

A memorial service will be held 2:30pm Monday August 6, 2012 at Greenville First Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Michelle McClendon and Rev. Baxter Wynn. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 - 2:30pm in the church narthex. A private interment will follow the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenville First Baptist Church Library, 847 Cleveland Street 29601, Greenville, SC 29601, or to the Parkinson's Association of the Carolinas, 5970 Fairview Road - Suite 725, Charlotte, NC 28210.
