Beth Hargrove Tankersley

Beth Hargrove Tankersley, 77, died October 22, 2012. Born in Athens, Tenn., she was the daughter of John Milton (Jack) Hargrove and Gladys Wiggins Hargrove.
During her elementary school years in Oak Ridge, Tenn., where her father was an engineer for the Manhattan Project, Beth discovered a love of the arts, which she enjoyed throughout her life.
After moving to Greenville in junior high school, she continued the study of dance, art, and flute. She graduated from Greenville High School, Class of 1953. Beth studied Graphic Art and Design at the Richmond Professional Institute, College of William and Mary (now Virginia Commonwealth University) where she was named to the Dean's List.
She worked at Leslie Advertising prior to co-founding Tankersley-Schroeder Graphic Design. Beth received numerous honors and design awards during a career spanning over 40 years. She also held offices in club and volunteer organizations, served as a docent at the Greenville County Museum of Art and provided design services pro bono for many nonprofit groups.
Her loving family includes her son, John Scott Tankersley and her daughter-in-law Cathi P. Tankersley of Greer, S.C.; her sister-in-law, June Bliss Hargrove and nephews John Frederick (Jack) Hargrove and Gaines Bliss Hargrove of Charlotte, N.C. She was predeceased by her husband, Ladson D. Tankersley, AIA Emeritus; her son, Steven Mitchell Tankersley; and brother, Reginald Gaines Hargrove.
