Donna Henderson Obituary

Donna Baade Henderson

Greenville

Donna Baade Henderson, 91, widow of James M. Henderson, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012.

Born on July 2, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Fern Baade. She grew up on a farm just outside of Bennet, NE and attended high school there. Donna went to the University of Nebraska and became a teacher in the Nebraska Public School System. She met and married her husband, Jim, when he was a student at the University of Denver. The couple then moved to Greenville. She was a world traveler, a happy gardener, a community volunteer, a reader - especially of history books, an enthusiastic bridge player, and an informed participant in political and current events discussions. But her primary passion was her family.

She is survived by her three children and their families; James M. Henderson, Jr, and his wife, Page Harrison Henderson, Debbie Henderson DeMint, and her husband, Jim DeMint, all of Greenville, and Linda Henderson Lucas of Atlanta, and her husband, Arthur Lucas; six grandchildren, James Henderson DeMint of Charleston, and his wife, Laurie, Ginger DeMint Rushing of Charlotte, NC, and her husband, Craig, Timothy DeMint of Columbia, and his wife, Marcy, Donna DeMint of Greenville, Baade Lucas Wilson of Atlanta, and her husband, Roger, and Arthur Lucas, Jr. of Charleston, and his wife, Karen; seven great-grandchildren, James Henderson DeMint, Jr., Clark DeMint, and Annie DeMint, Ashley Caroline Rushing, Lucas and Lucy Wilson, and Eleanor Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Vera Baade Michel.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown to be followed by the Funeral Service at 12 noon in the Chapel. A private family burial will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Your precious mother touched my heart in a special way. I was a concierge at The Cascades and had many opportunities to see & visit her. She always had something sweet to say and always remembered our names were the same. Sending my love, thoughts and prayers.
