Sarah "Jackie" Jacquelyn Grogan

Travelers Rest

On Tuesday morning, February 12, 2013 God, in his infinite Wisdom and Mercy, knowing her tasks to be completed and finding her worthy, called his faithful servant Sarah Jacquelyn Grogan home.

Her final battle with renal cell carcinoma was faced with her absolute faith and trust in God. Her grace in these circumstances was and continues to be an inspiration to her children, family and friends.

Jackie was a member of Calvary First Baptist Church and retired from the US Postal Service, where she had served as a rural route carrier for many years. She also served as Fire Commissioner for the Glassy Mountain Fire District for four years. She volunteered with the SC Election Commission, the North Greenville Food Crisis Center and the Manna Ministry. In her opinion these were avocations as her true calling was to live her life for God. If she could help, she would. If she could share, she did. There were no strangers, only friends unmet. It is who she was.

Jackie is survived by her children, a daughter Candy Garren, two sons, Larry and Mark Grogan; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and hundreds of "adopted" children, grandchildren and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Henry Grogan; a son, Kenneth Dean Grogan; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Jane Grogan.

She asks that everyone remember her only with smiles.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 2:30 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. at Calvary First Baptist Church in Sans Souci, Greenville. A celebration of her life will follow at 4:30 p.m.

She has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Vision Fund of Calvary First Baptist Church, 11 Tampa St. Greenville, SC 29609, or to a charity of your choosing.

"I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence

Two roads diverged in a wood and I -

I took the one less traveled by

And that has made all the difference."

- Robert Frost, 1920.
