James C. Swartz

Greenville

James C. Swartz, 78, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in the company of his family and friends on Friday, March 1st, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville, Pennsylvania to Clarence L. Swartz and Bessie L. Swartz, both deceased. He lived most of his life in his beloved state of South Carolina.

Jim graduated from Greenville High School in Pennsylvania. From 1954 until 1956, he served his country in the US Army with the Anti-aircraft Artillery and Guide Missile Battalion. He attended Penn State and continued his education at Greenville Technical College. He was employed by Nationwide Insurance and loved his job. He was an active member of the Wade Hampton Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rites for 30 years as well as a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple for the last 25 years, where he initiated the Hejaz Shrine Club Luncheon.

Jim is survived by his children, Dr. James A. Swartz of Chicago, IL; Rita L. Odenheimer of Lake Charles, LA, and her four children; Alison Swartz-Williams of Huenstetten, Germany, and her four children; and Michelle Miller, who is deceased, and her two children. Jim was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to all.

In lieu of funeral services, a reception in Jim's honor will be held at his home on Wednesday, March 6th, 2013 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
