Gary Kenneth "Ken" Pittman, 67, of Marietta, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at McCall Hospice House. Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Raymond Pittman and Elsie Lucille Hall Pittman Henderson. Ken was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a Ranger serving with the Special Forces unit, 75th Ranger Regiment, 7th Squadron, 1st Air Cavalry Blackhawks, member of DAV Blackhawk Association, and a member of Slater Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Daria Reynolds Pittman; son: Kenneth Wayne Pittman; grandchildren: Cassie Wilson, Hunter Dodd, Chandler Pittman; aunt: Elizabeth Edwards; cousin: Diane Vaughn(Tommy); and mother-in-law: Frances Reynolds. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter Connie Lynn Pittman Wilson and step-father, Bill Henderson.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Coleman Memorial Cemetery. The family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Slater Baptist Church, P.O. Box 243, Slater, SC 29683.
