Max Leder


Max Leder, 93, of 410 Wennington Place, passed away peacefully Monday morning, October 14, 2013.

Born in New York, New York, he was a son of the late Herman and Sarah Altman Leder.

He was a graduate of George Washington University. Mr. Leder was a member of that "greatest generation" that honorably served during World War II in the Pacific as an Aviator in the U.S. Marine Corps and continued to serve in the Reserves until 1958 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Following his discharge he lived in the metro Washington DC area where he was engaged in Real Estate development.

He was also active with the Jewish Federation and was a great friend to the State of Israel.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband and loving father to his family and was a member of Temple of Israel.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maxine R. Leder of the home; his sons, Charles S. Leder (Valerie), of Albuquerque, NM, and Dr. Steven T. Leder (Lois), of Charlotte, NC; his sister, Beverly L. Footer of Bethesda, MD; and beloved grandchildren, Benjamin, Natalie and Rachel Leder. He was predeceased by his beloved son, William David Leder in 1958.

A private graveside service will be Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Beth Israel Cemetery with Rabbi Jeremy Master officiating.
