Darrell Lynn Jennewine, 78, of Greenville, SC left this world on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 to be with his beloved wife Jacqueline (Jackie) Lee Sanderson after an extended illness. He is survived by sons Jeffrey and Daniel Jennewine of Greenville, sisters Marilyn Allamong and Marcia Burch of Sylvania, Oh and granddaughter Angie Lynn Wing of Washington, DC. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Virginia Freezner and daughter Julie Ann Light of Toledo, Ohio.

Born in Sylvania, Ohio, Darrell served in the U.S. Army in Germany and later graduated from the University of Toledo. His career in human resources in the automotive industry brought him to Greenville in 1981 where he was an asset to several organizations, including the Spartanburg Development Association. An avid runner, Darrell became administrator of the Greenville Track Club in 2004. He was instrumental in drafting and implementing an ambitious master plan that tripled club membership, expanded its role in the running and fitness community and created the Spinx RunFest, the club's premier event and many others. Darrell was a tireless worker for the club, a powerful force in the Greenville running community, and an enthusiastic ambassador for the sport. He remained in close contact with club leaders, sharing his wisdom and expertise, until his final weeks. He ran in both the Boston and New York marathons and countless other races around the country. He and his wife Jackie were active golfers at Pebble Creek Country Club for many years.
