Lennie Cecil "Buddy" Evans, age 66, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

Born in Camden, he was a son of the late Luther Claude and Lessie Belle Bullock Evans. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and owned Buddy's Carpentry and Repair since 1985. He was a friend of Bill Wilson for 29 years and his purpose in life was helping people come to sobriety. Buddy was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Iron Gate Golf Club. He was a proud grandfather and touched the lives of everyone he met.

Buddy is survived by his darling, Wanda Mae Gilreath; two daughters, Tracy Griffin and husband Alan and Mandy Bennefield and partner Derek Hefner; five grandchildren, Tommy Cotton, Savannah Cotton, Evan Griffin, Madison Bennefield, and Brianna Hefner; a great grandson, Kingston; a brother, Rev. L.C. Evans and wife Celeste Bramlett; a sister, Betty Jane Ray; and his beloved dogs, Frankie and Gracie. He was predeceased by two sisters, Carol Leach and Joanne White; a half-brother, Jack Evans; and two half-sisters, Mable Dixon and Peggy Branham.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Cannon Funeral Home-Jones Chapel, Simpsonville conducted by Rev. Brandon Gilreath, Rev. Scott Kelly, and Rev. L.C. Evans with burial to follow in M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Cannon Funeral Home-Jones Chapel prior to the service.

The family will be at the home of Tracy and Alan Griffin.
