Alexander Charles Berman, 35 of Princeton, N.J., died peacefully on June 6, 2013 at New York Presbyterian / Columbia University Medical Center in Manhattan. His final days were spent with family and friends, a loving end to a long battle against Hodgkin's lymphoma. Alex was born in Ridgewood, N.J., and lived for a time in Westchester County, N.Y., finally settling in Old Greenwich, Conn, where he was a student at the Whitby School, Eastern Middle School, Rye Country Day School, and Greenwich High School. He received a BA in History/Political Science from Sarah Lawrence College, and a MA in Childhood Education from the College of New Rochelle. Following his studies he lived in New York City and worked as a teacher in the New York City Public School system, a Private Tutor for Manhattan Edge, and a Head Gifted Teacher at the Lang School. Alex was also an accomplished lifelong musician, performing locally and around the world. He is survived by his wife Brannan and twin sons Ben and Noah of Princeton, N.J.; father and mother Jake and Kris of Greenwich, Conn; sister Lielle of Greenwich, Conn; and a large community of extended family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, June 11th in Princeton, N.J., at the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, located at 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton, NJ, 08542. There will be a viewing from 10-11:30 a.m., and a memorial service at 12 p.m. There will also be a 1:30 p.m. graveside service, just blocks away from the funeral home at the Princeton Cemetery, 29 Greenview Avenue, Princeton, NJ 08542.
