Audrey Dennis Hamilton, the mother of Judy Schedler, died peacefully at home in Greenwich on November 30, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was 98 years young. She was born on August 24, 1914 in Hagerman, ID to Arthur and Nettie Dennis. Upon Audrey's marriage to Joseph Young Hamilton in 1941, the couple moved to Utah, finally settling in Salt Lake City, where they raised their family and were active members of the community. In the years following the death of her husband in 1969, Audrey lived in Boise, ID and Greenwich, CT. She remodeled five of her homes in her later years, demonstrating her creativity and determination. She was an active interior designer and worked for Greenwich Hardware and later for FeinsodHardware in Old Greenwich, where she managed the wallpaper studio with great delight until she was 84. Her good humor and zest inspired everyone who knew her, especially in her later years. The highlights of her life were her family, who will forever be touched by this special woman. Audrey was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Elvin J. Dennis and Dehryl A. Dennis; her husband; and an infant son, Joseph Scott Hamilton. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Hamilton Schedler of Greenwich, CT; grandsons Ryan Edmund Schedler (Sally) of Old Greenwich, CT, Spencer Hamilton Schedler of Brooklyn, NY, and Peter Joseph Schedler, of New York, NY; great-grandchildren Audrey Lynn Schedler, Spencer Charles Schedler, and James Edmund Schedler of Old Greenwich, CT; brothers Arlin C. Dennis (Tess) and Harry A. Dennis (Lena), both of Boise, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place at Stanwich Congregational Church, 202 Taconic Road, Greenwich, CT on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stanwich Church or Masonicare Hospice of Wallingford, CT.
