Joan Walworth

Walworth, Joan P.
Joan P. Walworth, Greenwich, CT.
Our Beloved Joan left us April 4th, to begin her next journey with the total belief that she will be residing with god, our father in heaven for eternity. Her brave and sudden battle with pancreatic cancer is over.
Joan was born in Springfield, MA. March 28, 1924. Prior to her family moving to Greenwich, CT in 1940, Joan grew up in Pelham, NY, She graduated from the Greenwich academy with the class of 1942. She then attended Wells College and received a B.A. degree.
Joan was married to Theodore H. Walworth Jr. in 1949 and became the mother of Wendy Walworth Schrijver in 1950. Her son, Theodore H. Walworth III was born in 1953. Her four grandchildren are Andrew Schrijver, Kristen Schrijver of NYC and Elizabeth Walworth and Sarah Walworth of Greenwich.
The Walworth family is grateful for Joan's devotion and unstinting sixty three years of care in her marriage and the bringing up of her children.
Joan's exceptional character, fundamental decency and integrity set a pace that pulled all she touched into its wake. Her positive attributes and service to her community were first engendered by her mother Helga Anderson and father LeRoy A. Petersen.
Both parents were of solid Scandinavian descent and both were first generation born in America.
Joan particularly enjoyed the many years of her service to the Greenwich Library Art committee. On a personal basis Joan enjoyed tennis and cruising on her sailboat, "Nordic Joan".
Funeral services will be private. Interment will be at the Walworth gravesite, Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich CT.
