Marian W. Tainter, 96, a long-time Greenwich resident passed from this life into Our Lord's Arms, in Naples, FL on December 20, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rome, NY on May 9, 1916, the seventh child of Albert and Jennie Walsworth. She was educated in CA, TX, and NY and graduated from Morrisville State College. She married W. John Tainter, Jr. on August 10, 1940, in Clinton, NY. Mrs. Tainter was a faithful member of the Round Hill Community Church in Greenwich and active in the Round Hill Guild and Friendship Circle. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Putnam Hill Chapter. Marian lived out her faith in the way she treated others, in the way she was loyal to her commitments and in the way she gave of herself to others. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her daughter, Susan T. Rice, three brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Tainter is survived by her daughter, Joan T. Galloway and her husband John of Naples, FL; her grandchildren JoAnn Fitzpatrick and David J. Rice and his wife Katty; six great grandchildren, Nicholas Marut, Nathan, Ariel and Kyle Rice; Samantha, Michael Fitzpatrick and her son-in-law Richard Rice of Rocky Hill, CT; and her loving nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her welcoming smile and bright blue eyes. Services and interment will be in Rome, NY this summer.
