Mary Olive Hogeman passed away at her home in Greenwich, Connecticut on April 5, 2014 after a short illness. She was born on August 13, 1923 in London, England. Her parents, Olive Edith Danter and Edwin George Danter, predeceased her. Her devoted husband of sixty years, George L. Hogeman, passed away in 2006. Mary O. Hogeman was educated in London, England and worked for the British Admiralty during World War II
. Stationed in Bath, England she served in the Actuarial Department. It was through this shared experience that she met her future husband, George, in Bath, England in 1941. They maintained their relationship over five years through letters written to one another from around the world. They were married in 1946 and moved to West Hartford, Connecticut where they lived for twenty -three years. In 1969 they moved to Worcester, Massachusetts where they lived until 1974 when they moved to Greenwich, Connecticut. Together they shared a wonderful life filled with love and adventure that included creating a family retreat, Edgemere, in Orleans, Massachusetts where they enjoyed many happy family times. Mary O. Hogeman was a gentle woman of great strength, intelligence and insight. She generously shared her positive spirit and her wonderful sense of humor. She was devoted to each member of her family and enjoyed life with her many friends, who spanned the generations. She was a member of Indian Harbor Yacht Club in Greenwich, Connecticut. Survivors include two daughters, Jane D. Hogeman of Greenwich, Connecticut and Susan H. O'Connor of Oakton, Virginia; her son-in-law Timothy K. O'Connor; three grandchildren, Benjamin E. Yaker (Meredith); Jack D. O'Connor, and Elizabeth A. O'Connor; and two great grandchildren Charles N. Yaker and Mary J. Yaker. She leaves nieces and nephews of whom she was very fond. Her sister, Vera Danter, predeceased her. A private family memorial service in Orleans, Massachusetts is planned for summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mary O.
