Manley, Robert Russell Jr., a long time resident of Greenwich, CT died at age 87 on March 13 in Indio, CA. Bob was born in Genesee Depot, WI to Robert and Louise Manley. Bob earned his electrical engineering degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. After working for major corporations such as GE and Westinghouse, Bob started his own management consulting firm in New York City and Greenwich. With his wife Seon, he co-authored the book, "Age of the Manager." Bob and Seon were also avid book collectors and named their home in back country Greenwich "Books on the Rocks" as it housed more than 20,000 book titles. Bob was a passionate naturalist; he loved Long Island Sound, the Greenwich Audubon, and also the Greenwich Library where Seon and Bob did research on their books. Together, they co-authored the critically acclaimed book "Beaches: Their Lives, Legends and Lore ". In the last month of his life, Bob said, "Greenwich shaped our lives. It gave us wonderful friends and a natural beauty of coastal beaches from which we sailed in our imagination." Mr. Manley is survived by his daughter, Shivaun, her husband Joe Hinman and granddaughter Holly, residing in Palm Desert CA; by his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Barbara Manley of Belle Haven CT; and nieces in Pasadena CA and in Austin TX. A memorial service will take place in Wisconsin in June.
