Thomas Rumsey Young, 98 of Stamford died peacefully at home on January 24, 2013. Mr. Young was born in Newark, NJ on February 21, 1914. A chemical engineer and a world class sailor, Mr. Young graduated from Deerfield Academy and Princeton University. He was an active member of The Riverside Yacht Club, the New York Yacht Club, the STC, CCA and the RORC. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Vondermuhll Young and most recent his second wife Carolyn Smith Young and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Anne Young Clark of Montgomery, AL, and two sons, Thomas Rumsey Young Jr. (Priscilla) of Big Sky, MT, and William Ellery Smith, Jr. (Cynthia) of Riverside CT; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family is grateful for the loving care and attention provided by Joyce Wallace. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sailing Yacht Research Foundation, Newport, RI.
