Virginia McColough Obituary

McColough, Virginia
Virginia White McColough, 85, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013. She was born on October 5, 1928 in Overbrook, Pennsylvania, to James J. and Mary Fagan White. She married C. Peter McColough on April 25, 1953; he passed away in 2006. Survivors include her three children Andrew (Marta) of Fairfield, CT, Ian (Susan) of Middletown, RI and New York City, and Ginny (Harry) Keeshan of Greenwich. Two of her children, Peter and Robert, preceded her in death, in 1987 and 1999, respectively. Additionally, eight grandchildren, Alex McColough, Charley McColough, Austin McColough, Peter McColough, Caroline Keeshan, Paul Keeshan, Katherine McColough and Lily McColough, survive her. Virginia was a long-time resident of Greenwich, where she lived since moving from Rochester, New York, in 1969. Most recently, Virginia was a resident at the Greens of Greenwich. Virginia graduated from Manhattanville College, and worked for Bonwit Teller's advertising department as a copywriter in Philadelphia prior to her marriage. She enjoyed the beach and the sun, and spent many hours at the shore, in Margate, New Jersey, as a child, and Nantucket or Manalapan, Florida, with her family. Virginia was an avid reader. Virginia spent her married life traveling the world, accompanying her husband Peter on business trips, and hosting at her home many business and political guests from around the world. Private services and entombment were held at St. Michael's Church and St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich, on November 15, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th floor, New York, NY 10001 or made online at alzfdn.org

What a truly wonderful woman! For sure she is with Uncle Peter, Peter and Robert in heaven so happy and free of troubles! I believe the entire Sacred Heart field hockey team is now up there, they were just waiting for your mom! I will always remember her smile and "Never Give Up" attitude she gave me. Sad for you guys, love ya, Roe
