ESTER JOHNSON SIVERTSEN of Southbury died peacefully at her home in Heritage Village on April 21, 2012. Born in Greenwich, Connecticut on May 2, 1927 to Gustave and Anna Nilsson Johnson, she was the wife of the late Olaf Roy Sivertsen. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Anne Huber and her grandchildren Jonathan Olaf and Kristiane Lee Huber, all of Southbury and her cousin, Kerstin Berg-Backlund of Raa, Sweden. Mrs. Sivertsen was raised and educated in Greenwich. She was a charter member of the First Lutheran Church of Greenwich. She was employed by the Town of Greenwich and retired from Town Hall in 1992. After 73 years of residing in Greenwich, she relocated to Heritage Village where she quickly and happily settled into Village life. Proud and enriched by her Swedish heritage, she naturally joined and served as president of the Heritage Village Scandinavian Club. All of her friends had strict instructions never to telephone her weeknights at 7 p.m., the time of evening her favorite show "Jeopardy" aired. She was also an avid UCONN Huskies Women's basketball fan and enjoyed a good game of Pinochle. A memorial service will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, 111 Peter Road, Southbury on Saturday, May 12th at 3 p.m. Burial at Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich will be private. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
