George Michael Dargay born July 24, 1924, the son of John Dargay and Helen Turify in Trenton, New Jersey, passed away on March 20, 2013. He died peaceably at home in Greenwich, CT. He is survived by his son, Bruce Dargay and his children, Dana, Dawson and Michael Dargay, and his daughter Damaris Dargay Scafidi, and her son Joshua Dargay Scafidi.
He joined the Navy in 1943 and served in the Pacific theater during World War II. In 1944, while stationed in Noroton he met his future wife, Faith McWilliams. After the war he was stationed between Rhode Island and Virginia until he was attached to the Naval Attaché in Oslo, Norway during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 until 1966.
Returning to the United States he joined the Defense Intelligence Agency and was subsequently stationed in Islamabad, Pakistan. At that time he traveled extensively throughout not only Pakistan but Afghanistan and India. He later served as a team with his wife, also in the DIA, in the American embassies in The Haag, The Netherlands (1969-1971) and in Copenhagen, Denmark (1973-1979.)
He retired and settled in Greenwich in 1980 renovating the family house after which he fulfilled his wife's lifelong dream of traveling throughout the United States to Alaska and Canada in their camper. After her death, he settled down with his daughter, son-in-law and grandson to repair and expand his collection of clocks until his death.
